We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, at Open GI, straight after work, 5:45pm. Meetings usually last for between 1 and 2 hours and we try to cover a range of topics for all levels of photographer. to let me know. Apart from the monthly meetings, we also try to have several outings during the year on a Saturday or Sunday. Each month we also have a competition. Entries are due the Tuesday before the monthly meeting, by 1pm. Competition winners are announced at the meeting and the winner chooses the topic for the next competition. Each competition runs for 2 months, so, for example, the winner of March’s competition will choose the subject for May. Photographs must be taken by you after the competition topic has been announced – so no pictures from your back catalogue eg entries for the April competition must have been taken after the February meeting.
You can enter up to 3 images for each competition. Image files need to be under 1mb in size and, although not a requirement, we ask you resize images to a size which will fit on most monitors when viewed full size (1280 pixels or less on the longest side). The easiest way to size your images to the appropriate size, is to open your image in your editing software and find the Resize option in the menus. If there is a "units" option, set it to pixels, if there is a "Keep aspect ratio" option (or similar) make sure it is checked/selected and enter a value of 1280 or 1024 in the "Width" or "Height" box, depending upon which is the longer side for your image. Save the image as a jpeg and that should produce an image smaller than the required 1mb. If you have any problems, as a club member for help.
Competition entries are scored via the website. Choose the appropriate competition gallery, when viewing individual images, below each one is a box where you can enter your score. Enter a value of between 1 and 20, 20 being the highest score, for the best images and 1 the worst. Your scores will not be counted until you have scored all of the images in the gallery (apart from your own).
